After winning the Latin Grammy in 2021, Costa Rican producer Óscar Marín continues to party at the big music festival. At the Anglo-Saxon Grammy Gala, taking place this Sunday in California, Tico won the Best Tropical Album category thanks to his work on Salswing!, an album by Rubén Blades with Roberto Delgado and Orchestra.

The news reached the Tico as he landed at Panama Airport.

“The award is for work as a recording and mixing engineer. I am very pleased and happy about the news. I’m from a show in Colombia and another in Mexico. We are tired but when I got here at the airport I was very excited. I want to send a big hug to all Ticos. Thank you for the support,” Marín told Viva.

For the same work, Marín received last year’s Latin Grammy for Best Album of the Year. With this recognition, the sound engineer already has three Anglo-Saxon and four Latin gramophones in his showcase.

This edition of the Grammy Awards also featured national musician Giancarlo Guerrero, who competed with the Nashville Orchestra in the Best Orchestral Performance category. This category was eventually conquered by the Philadelphia Orchestra.

This year, the most nominated artists are Jon Batiste with 11 nominations, followed by Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and HER with eight each. Also, Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish are competing for seven awards.
