Kanye West is dropping out of Coachella: reports

Kanye West has left Coachella, Variety confirms. The rapper was scheduled to wrap up the music festival on both weekends, held April 15-17 and April 22-24 in Indio, California. A rep for the star did not immediately respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment.

It’s unclear what prompted West to pull the plug on his performance. He co-headlined the festival with Harry Styles and Billie Eilish. Given his social media posts over the past few months, there has been massive buzz surrounding the Grammy winner’s performance. TMZ reports that Travis Scott was scheduled to join the rapper on the Coachella stage in what would have been Scott’s first appearance since November’s Astroworld tragedy, but the outlet reports that that too is now being scrapped.

The news comes days after West’s rep denied reports he told ex-wife Kim Kardashian he was “going to get help.” The rumor mill started when Page Six and Entertainment Tonight published the same story, claiming West told Kardashian he would stop bullying her and Pete Davidson online.

A source close to the Kardashians told both outlets, “For the sake of her kids, Kanye has told Kim that he’s not making any public appearances or inflammatory social media statements and will be going somewhere to get better.”

West’s rep hit back, telling Yahoo Entertainment the reports were “simply untrue.”

“Ye monitors all headlines related to him and his family on a daily basis. Most are being fed to the media by ‘sources close to the Kardashians’ who have created a false narrative that is not only untrue but further jeopardizes his goal of creating a healthy environment for the beautiful children he is with Kim shares,” West’s new head of media and partnerships, Jason Lee of Hollywood Unlocked, said on Friday. “He focused on taking care of himself, being a present and loving father, and a creative genius long before all the fake headlines we’ve seen lately.”

The story goes on

Lee concluded, “If you don’t hear it from his mouth, read it from his social media, or get it from a press release he approved, it’s just plain wrong.”

West, who won two Grammy Awards on Sunday, was banned from performing during the show because of his “worrying” online behavior. West lashed out at Trevor Noah after the late-night host called out the rapper’s harassment of Kardashian. West, who called Noah a racial slur on Instagram, has been suspended from meta platforms for 24 hours.

The rapper, who legally changed his name to Ye, was last seen in public on March 27 while he and Kardashian attended son Saint’s soccer game.
