There is no country and no party that can wage war instead of Syria.
Damascus, April 4 (RHC) Syrian Presidential Advisor Luna al-Shibl (pictured) confirmed the right to respond to the ongoing Israeli attacks on the territory of her country and believed that this prerogative was not is mandatory.
Damascus will respond according to the circumstances it deems appropriate and at the appropriate time and place, and if it sees that response would favor its interests and not the other way around, the official said in an interview with British broadcaster BBC.
Criticizing Russia for failing to prevent these attacks, the presidential adviser commented that the military agreement signed between the two countries stipulates that Russia is helping Syria in the fight against terrorism, not in protecting its borders.
There is no country and no party that could go to war instead of Syria, he noted.
Moscow, as he specifies, spares no effort and has not remained silent on these aggressions at the political and diplomatic level, but at the military level that is not its role.
The adviser explained that for 11 years Syria had been at war against terrorist organizations that had logistical, military and political support from Tel Aviv.
The terrorists returned to Israel earlier for treatment and training and then returned to Syria to continue their terrorism, al-Shibl denounced.
He claimed that when the Syrian army began defeating terrorism and liberating the regions, Israel was forced to intervene and launch direct attacks.
The Israeli army frequently bombs Syrian territory under the pretext of attacking alleged positions of Iranian militias and Hezbollah, while Damascus asserts that the aim of these hostilities is to support the terrorists in order to keep the country unstable. (Source:PL)
