A video broadcast on social networks shows the moment when two new groups of Cubans, including several minors, crossed the Rio Grande from the city of Piedras Negras in Mexico to the United States this Sunday without having to regret incident.
A live broadcast via the Impacto Visión Noticias Facebook profile showed the tense moment of the crossing because divided into two parts A small island in the middle of the mighty river allows migrants to rest for a moment before starting the second part of the journey.
The first group consisted of five adults and a five-year-old girl who passed the first section with no apparent difficulty.
The second group, two of them minors, also crossed the first stretch relatively effortlessly.
Once on the island, everyone gathered to cross holding hands and avoid being swept away by the force of the current, which was stronger in the last part of the route.
In addition to the Cubans, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans also crossed the same territory.
In recent weeks, the proliferation of similar images on social networks has become commonplace. In the last few days, another group of Cubans has been seen, in this case crossed tied by a rope so as not to be forcibly separated from the river current.
In this group were three girls wearing life jackets, which unfortunately many migrants do not use to protect themselves.
This year, the number of migrants – many of them of Cuban origin – crossing the Rio Grande to reach the US coast has skyrocketed.
In the last few days there have been many stories of Cubans crossing the Rio Grande under the most varied of circumstances, although unfortunately with varying degrees of luck in reaching their destination.

Irregular entry through the US southern border marked a record 16,550 Cubans in February. That’s the largest total for a month in more than two decades.
US authorities have confirmed that the Del Rio, Texas sector has recorded 198,482 arrests since October (beginning of fiscal year 2022), a number that represents a 179% increase from the previous year.
Just last Saturday, border officials found 1,656 migrants in this sector, most of them in Eagle Pass, the US portion that borders the Mexican city of Piedras Negras in Coahuila state.
This Friday, the government of The United States announced it would repeal Title 42 in Maya resolution that restricted the entry of immigrants across the border to seek political asylum in the country during the coronavirus pandemic.
Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), said smugglers committed to human trafficking would use the measure to spread misinformation.
“Let me be clear: Those who cannot establish legal basis to remain in the United States will be deported,” Mayorkas stressed, noting that the measure will be lifted on May 23.
