Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion took the throw back trend to the extreme with a tribute to one of music awards’ most iconic moments at the last edition of the Grammys.
At the 1998 Video Music Awards (VMAs), Music Divas Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston They took part in a skit where they appeared on stage in the same look – a brown mini dress with a plunging neckline – both thought they were wearing a unique creation.
On Sunday evening they were Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion who took the stage to present the Best New Artist award, dressed in the same ensemble: a petticoat fastened with gold safety pins, black latex leggings, and flashy jewelry, including a chunky choker, all by Versace.

“That’s ringing, you stole my look!” Megan exclaimed, feigning surprise. “They told me I had the shovel,” Lipa replied. “I’ll talk to Donatella.”
At that time, the designer was the sister of the deceased Gianni Versace Founder of the eponymous brand, went upstairs with his muses to resolve the conflict. How? Tear up the skirts of individual artists. “So these are my girls,” he exclaimed, revealing a different style for each.
The levitating singer now wore a matching top with leggings and the rapper wore the same look but with only a half skirt covering her legs. “Thanks, Donatella,” Megan said. “Now we both look like winners.”
In a statement, Versace said the moment was indeed an homage to the 1998 duel between Houston and Carey. These superstars also stripped back the top layer of their outfits to reveal two different mini dresses. Responding to a tweet about the tribute, Mariah Carey recalled the late I’ll Always Love You singer, “I love you and I miss you Queen.”
