The train derailed on impact and fell into a ditch.

Five people died on Tuesday morning in a traffic accident between a train and a small truck in southeastern Hungary. There were two seriously and eight slightly wounded. According to the police report, the accident happened when a small truck entered a level crossing near Mindszent. The train was on its way from Szentes to Hódmezövásárhely.
Seven people were in the truck, several of them members of a family that was on their way to work. Five of the occupants died at the scene of the accident, two were taken to hospitals with serious head injuries, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
Upon impact, the train derailed and fell into a ditch. According to Hungarian Railways MÁV, there were 22 passengers on the train. The small truck entered the level crossing despite the red warning light. The truck reportedly hit two light poles after the collision. According to the state rescue service, eleven of the train’s occupants were taken to hospitals for observation, most with bruises.
