A car smashed into the front gate of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bucharest, Romania at breakneck speed. After the violent impact, the vehicle caught fire and the driver died in the flames. Local authorities are currently investigating the incident, but the hypothesis that it could be a “deliberate act” is not excluded. According to reports from the Romanian media, according to the police, it was a planned action in which the driver shouted something at the embassy guards before he died. The identity of the victim has not been released by the authorities at the moment.
The speed with which the car crashed into the gate was very high, so the car managed to get over the fences that the gendarmerie had erected in recent weeks after the protests related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Traffic around the Russian embassy has been temporarily halted. In the meantime, the pictures were published on social media immediately after the crash: A video shot by the fire department shows the car still on fire, the front part of which is stuck in the embassy gate. In a short time, the security personnel managed to extinguish the fire, but the man at the wheel was already dead.
