The Bucha massacres and the brutality of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. While the EU moves into the European Parliament with new sanctions against Vladimir Putin, the dispute burns. MEP Francesca Donato, from the Nonattached Group, questioned the veracity of the civil massacres in Bucha in her speech to the plenary of the European Parliament, sparking a protest by current Chamber President Pina Picierno (Pd) who called “his words unacceptable”. “Today I even hear a proposal for a total embargo on Russian gas, which is in fact absolutely untenable for our economy, based on the Bucha facts reported by the Ukrainian government, the veracity of which there are already many doubts. We should rather send an independent investigation to Ukraine to examine the real dynamics of the facts and the real responsibilities for the violence and massacres against the civilian population,” he said in the Strasbourg Chamber. Francesca Donato rejected the League because of its critical Left positions on vaccines and voted against the European Parliament’s March 1 resolution against Russian aggression, adopted on the day of Zelenskyy’s speech at the extraordinary plenary session.
Today is the Vice President of #European Parliament In the courtroom he denied me the right to speak and attacked me for calling for an independent investigation in Ukraine into the violence against civilians by the Ukrainian army, which the UN has denounced. listen to yourself pic.twitter.com/AGGooOocYj

European Parliament VicePresident Pina Picierno (Pd) blamed the intervention of MEP Francesca Donato (exLega, now independent) who questioned the Bucha massacre. “I avoided interrupting, but let me say one thing: under no circumstances must this House become a megaphone for positions that are totally unacceptable,” said Picierno, who chaired the session at the time. “The Bucha massacre, Mr. Donato, is visible to all. And we cannot accept, I say this very clearly, that even that is being questioned in this Chamber. The slaughter of innocent civilians that is taking place these minutes, these hours, is for all to see, and in this Chamber it is unacceptable that this can be questioned. This plenary hall is not the same distance away: there is an aggressor, Putin, and an attacked person, these are the Ukrainian citizens who have this house and defend the European institutions. Let’s face it,” he concluded.
Some time ago in Strasbourg, when I chaired the meeting of @Europarl_EN I remembered @ladyonorato some things: the #SPORTS it is not the same distance, we are next to Ukraine and there is no place for the fabrications of Putin’s propaganda. #StandWithUkraine pic.twitter.com/XazYGIHvk8
