The Ukrainian army announced on Monday morning that it had taken “more than 20 towns” within 24 hours as part of its counter-offensive against the Russian army.
“Liberation of places from Russian invaders in Kharkiv and Donetsk Oblasts continues” (East), the army said in its morning report. Along the entire front line, “Ukrainian forces managed to drive the enemy out of more than 20 locations in 24 hours,” he added.
“During the retreat, Russian troops hastily abandon their positions and flee,” the army said in its report.
According to Ukraine, it has recaptured around 3,000 square kilometers of its territory since the beginning of September, mainly in the Kharkiv region.
On Sunday evening there were extensive power outages in several regions in the east, north, south and center of the country, which the Ukrainian authorities attributed to Russian strikes. According to the Presidency, thermal power plant number 5, the second in the country, was affected near Kharkiv.
Power was quickly restored in some of the affected areas. In the Kharkiv region, “80 percent” of electricity and water supplies have been restored, Deputy Head of the Presidency Kyrylo Tymoshenko told Telegram on Monday morning.
