Mother Nature makes her presence felt on Major League Baseball’s opening day. Weather forced two postponements on Thursday, and another game was postponed as teams begin their 2022 season. The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox were scheduled to play the first game of the 2022 MLB season Thursday afternoon, but the Yankees announced Wednesday that they would be moving that game to Friday (also at 1:05 p.m.) due to rain, according to the prediction.

The Seattle Mariners and the Minnesota Twins also postponed their first competition from Thursday to Friday. And the Washington Nationals and New York Mets will open Thursday at 7:05 p.m. ET instead of 4:05 a.m. to avoid inclement weather in DC

Nine games were originally scheduled to be played on Thursday. There are now seven Thursday games (including one that was postponed) and the remaining eight opener games will be played on Friday. Here’s the updated schedule for opening day.
