Relaxed Regulations – Corona Restrictions in Austria’s Neighboring Countries at a Glance

GERMANY

To enter, people aged 12 and over need a 3G ID, also for travel via Deutsches Eck. In early April, most state crown requirements were abolished across much of the country, and individual federal states are now responsible. A nationwide mask requirement still applies to public transport, hospitals or care facilities. Regardless of government rules, companies, businesses and other institutions may also maintain stricter requirements.

SWITZERLAND and LIECHTENSTEIN

There are no more entry restrictions. Internally, too, the latest national COVID measures were lifted on April 1. However, different regulations may apply in individual cantons.

ITALY

The 3G rule and mandatory online registration apply when entering Italy. As of April 1st, the 2G requirement in hotels has been suspended, and proof of vaccination, recovery or testing is no longer required on local public transport or in stores. Neither the 2G nor 3G obligation applies to access to museums, archaeological parks, exhibitions, archives, libraries and other cultural sites. From April 1st to April 30th, however, the 2G requirement will continue to apply in cinemas, theaters and concerts. FFP2 masks are also required. In general, the mask requirement still applies indoors and outdoors when people gather. More easing is expected from May 1. Then the mask requirement in indoor areas could be abolished.

SLOVENIA

There are no further requirements to enter Slovenia. Crown measures have also been largely suspended in the country itself. The 3G rule only applies to healthcare facilities and nursing homes. However, masks are still mandatory in public interiors and public transport. Neither for gastronomy, hotels or shopping centers nor for visiting institutions or cultural events nor is a COVID certificate required.

CROATIA

Croatia largely relaxes corona measures ahead of Easter. As of Saturday, travelers from EU countries can enter without restrictions, citizens of other countries will still need a Covid certificate. The mask requirement is almost completely eliminated. In public spaces and means of transport, the use of a mask is only a recommendation, only in health facilities and homes for the elderly and elderly.

HUNGARY

Hungary lifted all special COVID regulations on March 7, including entry restrictions. Access to restaurants, hotels, leisure facilities and cultural events is possible without restrictions. Masks are also no longer mandatory on public transport. Only in the health and social care sector is the decision to use the mask again the decision-making authority of the respective institution.

SLOVAKIA

No entry restrictions. 3G proof is also no longer required in the country, although FFP2 masks remain mandatory on public transport, inside public buildings and at mass outdoor events. In principle, an FFP2 mask should also be used outdoors if a distance of two meters from people outside the house cannot be guaranteed.

CZECH REPUBLIC

There are no entry restrictions. Most restrictions have also been abolished in the country, and restaurants, hotels and shops can be visited without restrictions. Masks are mandatory only on public transport and in health facilities and nursing homes. However, Health Minister Vlastimil Valek also announced that the mask requirement on public transport will be abolished “from Easter”, and the decision on this is expected to be taken next week.

The respective entry regulations must be understood for entry from Austria. Different regulations apply to entry from other countries or risk areas or variants.
