Chris Jericho Breaks The Code In ROH World Title Match

Chris Jericho

AEW

Wednesday night hosted All Elite Wrestling’s annual Grand Slam edition of Dynamite. The stacked card included games for the AEW World, Tag Team, Women’s, and All-Atlantic Championships. Not only were AEW titles at stake, however, but the Ring of Honor World Championship as well. After successfully defending the title against the likes of Dax Harwood and Konosuke Takeshita, Claudio Castagnoli prepared to defend his title against “The Wizard” Chris Jericho. This time, however, Jericho cracked Castagnoli’s code.

Jericho opened the match through rejection of the code of honor and wrapped things up by hitting Castagnoli with a low blow, Jericho was able to become Le Champion again. Longtime voice of ROH broadcasts Ian Riccaboni was discouraged for comments.

“A cloud of shame has shrouded the Ring of Honor World Championship,” said Riccaboni.

With his victory, Jericho secures the eighth world championship title of his career. It is the first time Jericho has held a championship since Jon Moxley defeated him at the Revolution pay-per-view for the AEW World Championship in early 2020.

Jericho’s victory brings even more gold to the Jericho Appreciation Society. Colleagues Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo hold the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship and Daniel Garcia recently won the Ring of Honor Pure Championship. Speaking of Pure Champion, Garcia was seen reluctantly celebrating with the JAS. This may come as a surprise to some as a rift has seemed to be slowly forming between Jericho and Garcia over the past few weeks. Although all seemed fine in Jericho’s group as they stood tall in New York City on Wednesday night.
