The US Department of Defense blames Russia for the deadly rocket attack on the Kramatorsk train station, which again shows Russian “brutality” against civilians.

According to the US Department of Defense, Russian forces are responsible for the deadly missile attack on a train station in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk. Russia’s official denials on the matter are “unconvincing,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said on Friday.

Attack on Kramatorsk Example of Russian “brutality”

“Our assessment is that it was a Russian strike and they used a short-range ballistic missile to carry it out,” Kirby said. Referring to the civilian casualties, he said the attack was another example of Russian “brutality” and “carelessness” towards civilians.

Ukraine and Russia blamed each other for Friday’s attack. However, Western politicians and analysts were convinced it was a Russian attack.

More than 50 civilians killed in train station attack

More than 50 people were killed in the train station attack, including 5 children. About 100 were injured, the governor of the Donetsk region, Pavlo Kyrylenko, said on Friday. Thousands of people were waiting at the station to escape.

Zelenskyj expects a determined reaction to Kramatorsk

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expects a firm response from the international community after the attack on the Kramatorsk train station. “We expect a global and determined response to this war crime,” Zelenskyj said in his daily video message on Friday night. Zelenskyy said he appreciated the willingness of the European Union (EU) to provide the necessary financial and technical support to document and investigate Russian crimes in Ukraine.

Zelenskyj wants to continue negotiating peace with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In an interview with Bild, Selenskyj says he would also sit at a table with Putin for negotiations. This still applies. “Today, Ukraine has no choice but to sit at the negotiating table. In Russia, no one else has the power to stop this war,” added Zelenskyy. “He alone decides when this war will end.
