From franchises like The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Love Is Blind, these dating shows are becoming an open source for individuals from around the world to gather and search for love with one another. Such is the case with the new Netflix show The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On. The only difference, however, is that the characters are couples, and there are a few other things that would surprise fans about the show.

Unlike Netflix reality hit Love Is Blind, which ranks as one of the best reality dating shows, The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On keeps it nice and simple in the candidate department. Love Is Blind starts with around 40-50 participants, which narrows down to around 20-25 over the 10 days in the pods. The show about finding your true mate must have a multitude of people from different backgrounds across the country, but that’s not the case with The Ultimatum.
In this Netflix reality series, six couples totaling 12 people will take part in the experiment. So that’s six men and six women dating, so no one can be left out.

Any dating show or experiment usually has a wide range of people from all over the country and the world. This broad pool of people opens the door for different backgrounds and personalities to network. Love Is Blind has had people from California, Georgia, New York to Maine, but that’s not the case in The Ultimatum.

As previously mentioned, The Ultimatum is about six couples who come to the innovative social experiment reality show. Aside from the fact that they are all different in terms of their relationships, they have one thing in common and that is where they call home. All six couples are from or live in Austin, Texas.
The dynamic duo hosts
On any dating show, it’s fun to see hosts who are in committed relationships. Nick and Vannessa Lachey are the perfect duo to come from Love Is Blind to The Ultimatum. They have a unique dynamic and they work well together. The Lacheys discuss their relationship in a sneak peek at the show, giving fans a glimpse into their life as a couple.
Nick and Vanessa met in 2006 while Vanessa was on TRL and she later starred in his music video for the song What’s Left Of Me. The two started dating from there, and despite a brief separation, they would marry in 2011 and have three children together.
Duration of dating
The Ultimatum does something different on Netflix. The six couples on the show have come with the main goal they want to achieve and they each have to figure out where they want to go from here. When the couples are led into a fake breakup, they are pushed into the act of speed dating and choose another person to engage in a fake relationship with for three weeks.
In these three weeks, the new couples have to live together and get to know each other better. They have the opportunity and time to find out if they can see a future with someone new or if they want to stay with their original partners.

In any reality show, there are a few rules that come with territory, and that’s especially true on dating shows. As the couples split up on the Netflix show, they’ll be living with women and men who aren’t their original significant other. This requires some respectful boundaries to be set. Netflix’s usual reality series are unlike some forgotten VH1 dating shows that feasted on the drama. Instead, the platform adheres to certain standards.
In The Ultimatum, however, that doesn’t appear to be the case. As some of the new couples live together for these three weeks, they take the time to get to know each other, and it’s sometimes an intimate affair. The lines can become blurred in this regard because essentially they are still in relationships with the person they originally came with and the lines are blurring.

As the show begins, each of the six couples in The Ultimatum are currently in committed relationships with each other. However, the aim and experiment of the show stems from one person giving another in the relationship an ultimatum to either marry them or break up. Considering the amount of crazy dating shows that have been forgotten over the years, this show might rank among the best in the crazy category.
In The Ultimatum, the couples come onto the show to see if they’re ready to stick together or find someone they can imagine marrying, or stay single. Each couple has to figure out if they want to leave this experiment together or if they want to go with another person, in any case they will end up dating others with their original partners doing the same.
