Texas Republican governor erects barbed wire fence in Rio Grande to prevent migrants from crossing

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott will take several steps to stop migrants trying to reach the United States. According to several Hispanic media reports, he ordered the erection of barbed wire fences in the lower reaches of the Rio Grande on the border with Mexico. That way people can’t cross it.

It has also ordered an increased military presence in the border area with tens of thousands of security forces. State police are also ordered to stop and inspect all vehicles entering the state to prevent illegal entry of persons.

Apparently despite Democrat Joe Biden’s administration, the Republican governor of Texas threatened to fill dozens of buses with trapped migrants. The aim would be to send them to the United States capital, Washington DC, in revenge for the relaxation of immigration policies.

Doors are closing in the face of further migration

According to Border Patrol statistics, an average of more than 7,000 migrants cross the US border every day. With the recent announcement of the abolition of Title 42, which introduced faster procedures for deportation due to the pandemic, some are reassuring that the numbers will skyrocket.

From May, 18,000 people will arrive at the US borders every day. That’s why Greg Abbott decided to take drastic action.

Compatriot Republican Doug Ducey, Governor of Arizona, seems to take a different stance. Not seeking re-election, he has made no common cause with members of his party who are calling for the arrival of immigrants to be treated as an invasion. This would justify taking extraordinary measures, as is usual in a war.

These are exactly what the Texas governor has decreed, and will make the road even more arduous for those seeking the American Dream.
