Two planes from Mexico arrived in Cuba this Friday carrying electrical equipment destined for the country’s recovery after the passage of Hurricane Ian. The aid consists of 72,000 meters of cable, 7,000 insulators and other resources for the restoration of the electrical system.
Also, in early October, a shipment is expected to arrive from Venezuela containing 300,000 bags of groceries, 52 electrical transformers and 22,500 square meters of roofing material.
“Your embrace strengthens us,” said the organizing secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, while thanking on Twitter for the support and solidarity of governments, organizations and personalities after the passing of the meteorological event. He particularly appreciated the support of Mexico and Venezuela, who have once again reached out.
This Friday, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez also received solidarity from activists and representatives of progressive organizations in the United States.
On Twitter, the Cuban Foreign Minister alluded to the talks with the activists and referred to the incalculable human costs of the economic, trade and financial blockade imposed by the United States more than 60 years ago.
From Europe, the association Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) confirmed an initial shipment of 17,000 euros to support the reconstruction effort.
The Colombian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba has set up an account for those who want to support the people of the island. «Join solidarity with Cuba. The blockade is the most devastating hurricane to hit Cuba in more than six decades,” the organization’s initiative said.
The Uruguayan Anti-Imperialist Committee in solidarity with Cuba and the peoples of the world sent a message of support to the Caribbean island.
