“Saturday Night Live” kicked off its 48th season on Saturday night with host Miles Teller as former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning and Andrew Dismukes as his brother Eli.
In the skit, the pair did an analysis of the season premiere of the NBC variety show.
“Okay, we have a recording of Mar-a-Lago,” said Eli von Dismukes.
“Oh good! Trump sketch,” Teller’s Peyton said. “Possible to mix it up.”
This led to the pair watching a Trump sketch starring James Austin Johnson as the former president.
Peyton (Teller) and Eli (Dismukes) were not happy with the sketch.
“Okay, time out,” Eli von Dismukes said, interrupting the sketch. “What the hell was that?”
Teller’s Peyton asked why there weren’t any funny impersonations of Anthony Fauci or Rudy Giuliani.
“They were all Kate McKinnon,” Eli Dismukes informed Teller’s Peyton. McKinnon left the show last season.
Bowen Yang then entered the sketch, missing a line that the two former faux quarterbacks called out.
“He should take a step up this year,” said Eli von Dismukes. “But you can tell that the pressure is on him.”
Teller’s Peyton said that the show is “certainly in a rebuilding year.”
The two then went over the show’s stats so far, which were “14 attempted jokes, 1 mild laugh, and 3 giggles.”
“Thank god they have Kendrick Lamar because that’s the only reason anyone tunes in,” said Peyton of Teller – the joke was that Teller is also the host.

The pair then brought out former host Jon Hamm as a guest and asked him what he’d seen so far tonight.
“I don’t know, but it’s not a comedy,” Hamm said.
Hamm, Teller’s co-star on Top Gun: Maverick, then noted that the show can’t even get more famous hosts.
“Well, I’ve heard they rarely openly put the host out in the cold, so when they do … it’s special,” Teller’s Peyton said.
The entire cast then said the show’s signature catchphrase: “Live… from New York. It’s Saturday night!”
