Russian Chechen Republic leader Ramzan Kadyrov on Saturday urged the Russian army to use “low-power nuclear weapons” in Ukraine, where Moscow’s forces are fighting in some areas.

“In my opinion, more drastic measures must be taken, up to and including the imposition of martial law in border areas and the use of low-power nuclear weapons,” Kadyrov said in a message published on Telegram.
“We need to carry out the ‘special military operation’ in the full sense of the word and not enjoy playing it,” scoffed this Kremlin loyalist, who was in Moscow on Friday to formalize the annexation of Ukrainian lands to Russia.
“It’s not necessary to make our decisions with the ‘West American community’ in mind,” he said, adding that “they acted very badly against us.”
In a malicious message, Mr. Kadyrov regretted that the Russian colonel general in charge of operations around Lyman, Alexandre Lapin, “did not provide the necessary communications, interaction and ammunition supply” for the soldiers involved in the defense of that city Eastern Ukraine, from which the Russians withdrew in favor of the Ukrainians on Saturday.
The Chechen leader, who rules his Caucasian republic with an iron fist, also marveled at the chain of command in the Russian army and the feedback given to President Vladimir Putin.
“The army’s nepotism will not lead to any good,” he pounded. “There is no place for nepotism in the army, especially in difficult times,” he added.
The momentum of Kiev’s ground forces since the counteroffensive began in early September prompted Russia on Friday to urgently annex four Ukrainian regions and order the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of civilian reservists.
