Hurricane Orlene “transformed into a major Category 3 hurricane Sunday morning” as it approached the Pacific coast of Mexico, where it is expected in the coming days, the US National Hurricane Center United (NHC) said. It “became a major hurricane” with strong winds of 185 km/h, the NHC said in its latest bulletin.
“Orlene has intensified into a Category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale,” which is 5, according to the National Water Commission (Conagua). The hurricane is located 205 km from Playa Perula in the state of Jalisco (west), where it caused heavy rains.
