The comedian died of complications from Covid19

In March 2021, Paulo Gustavo was hospitalized with Covid. Worried about his health, the comedian, who would die of the disease on May 4, exchanged messages on his cellphone with friend Fil Braz.

Braz, screenwriter who has accompanied Paulo Gustavo throughout his career, decided to share the prints on his Instagram on election day. In his opinion, it was a way of positioning himself. “He said he would survive and we would laugh a lot, but the fight wasn’t won. He asked me to pray, asked me to send all my energy to him,” Braz wrote.

“All of Brazil prayed. All of Brazil sent energy. But one Brazilian, then presiding over the presidency of the republic, mocked those who were short of breath, called it a gripezinha, refused vaccines, delayed everything. He politicized the pandemic . PG lost the battle. We all lost thousands of brothers and talents.”

In the messages, Paulo Gustavo asks his friend to pray for him and is confident in his recovery. “There was no clear prediction as to when the vaccine would arrive for the 40yearold. PG was already in the hospital. He said, ‘I screwed up COVID. The scenes you see on Globo are me’. He said he would survive and that we would laugh a lot, but the fight wasn’t won,” Braz recalled.

The widower Paulo Gustavo, Thales Bretas, also used his Instagram to position himself in the elections. Without citing Paulo Gustavo or the pandemic, the doctor opened his vote:

The actor’s mother, Dea Amaral, made a post for defended educator Paulo Freire on the eve of the election.
