The scary season has arrived at the US box office.

Smile, a horror film starring Sosie Bacon and Jessie T Usher about a doctor who experiences frightening experiences with a patient after a traumatic incident, took the number one spot on its debut weekend, earning $22 million in ticket sales, according to Deadline.

Don’t Worry Darling dropped to second place in its second week in cinemas. The Olivia Wilde-directed thriller, starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles, grossed $7.3 million, down 64 percent from the film’s debut.
