Iran: NGO, 92 dead in suppression of protests over death of Mahsa Amini

At least 92 people have been killed in the crackdown on protests in Iran following the death of young Mahsa Amini, according to the NGO Iran Human Rights. Iranian security forces killed 41 people in Zahedan on Friday.

The NGO accused Iranian security forces of “bloody repression” of a protest that broke out on Friday after prayers in Zahedan in the southeastern province of Sistan-Balochistan over allegations against a police chief in the port city of Chabahar in Sistan-Balochistan province over rape of a 15-year-old girl belonging to the Sunni Baloch minority. At least 41 people were killed. Iran claims that five members of the Revolutionary Guards were killed in Zahedan in what the official media dubbed a “terrorist incident”.

“The Americans are trying to lure young Iranians to protest in the streets, this is their latest policy against Iran,” Revolutionary Guards commander Hossein Salami said today, stressing, “We warn the United States, Britain, Saudi Arabia and the anti-Iranians.” -Iranian media: We will break you. You have no place in Iran.”

“Today, the United States is old, weary, inept and defeated,” he said, quoted by Fars, adding that all the demons and villains of the world had launched a political and media war against Iran to avert defeat recover. “A group of young people, influenced by enemies and their psychological operations, should clarify their position and choose the enemies or us who are their friends,” he said.
