As KURIER learned on Sunday from the People’s Party, former Finance Minister Gernot Blümel was informed by the Public Ministry on Wednesday, April 6, that the complaint against the former politician for an alleged false statement had been filed.
The specific case concerned an alleged false statement by Blümel in the June 2020 investigative committee, which partially contradicted the statements of then ÖBB-Holding CFO Arnold Schiefer. According to the People’s Party, the economic and corruption prosecutors refrained from initiating an investigation.
In total, there are already five ads against Blümel, which will no longer be aired. He was determined three times for making false statements, twice for suppressing evidence and once for abuse of power and bribery.
