Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor’s ‘2 States’ actor Shiv Subramaniam dies

Veteran actor and award-winning screenwriter Shiv Subrahmanyam breathed his last on Sunday night. He has been part of several Hindi films and web series including Meenakshi Sundareshwar, Nail Polish, 2 States, Hichki, Rocky Handsome, Stanley Ka Dabba and more.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta shared: “It is with deep and sincere sadness that we wish to inform you of the passing of one of the most dignified and noble souls in human form – our dearest Shiv Subrahmanyam. Incredibly talented, he was deeply loved and revered personally as well as professionally.”

“We send our deepest condolences to his wife Diyya, her mother, her father, Rohan, Rinki and their family; Bhanu chitti and the whole family of Shiv; and his huge legion of friends and fans,” he added.

The tweet informing fans of the funeral also said: “The funeral will begin on 04/11/2022 at 10am at Shishira, Yarnuna Nagar, Lokhandwala Back Road, Andheri West. Cremation will take place at 11 am at Mokshdham Hindu Shamshanbhoomi, Ceasar Rd.’ , Amboli, Andheri West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400058.’

Shortly after Mehta shared the post, fans rushed to the comments section and paid tribute to the actor. In response to the sudden death, filmmaker Nikkhil Advani dropped a heartbroken emoji. “Terrible news. The sadness never ends. A great guy and incredible talent. Gone too soon. #RIP #respect,” commented Ranvir Shorey.

On the work front, besides acting, Shiv Subrahmanyam is known for writing screenplays for films such as Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Parinda (1989), Leena Yadav’s Teen Patti (2010) and Sudhir Mishra’s Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005).
