Biden May Raise Concerns on India-Russia Relations in Meeting with Prime Minister Modi

Gun controls are back on Joe Biden’s radar, and the President is due this afternoon to announce restrictions on so-called ghost guns, which are made from kits and have no serial number, rendering them untraceable.

A number of gun rights activists have been invited to attend the Rose Garden event at the White House, including the parents of victims of the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas massacre in Parkland, Florida, the worst high school shooting in the United States, in which 17 students were killed and employees were killed .

one of the activists Manuel Oliverwhose 17-year-old son Joaquin was among the victims, has grown increasingly impatient in recent months at a perceived lack of action by Biden, who has struggled in part with promises of gun reforms for the White House.

He and his wife Patricia, Joaquin’s mother, have traveled the country using plays and urban art to highlight gun deaths and promote their call for meaningful reform.

Oliver was arrested in Washington DC in February, on the fourth anniversary of his son’s death, when he climbed onto a crane and unfurled a banner aimed at Biden that read, “45,000 died of gun violence under your watch.”

That number is now over 54,000, according to the website shockmarket.org, which tracks firearm deaths in the United States since Biden took office.

“See you tomorrow, Potus, and thanks for the invitation,” Oliver tweeted on Sundaywho credits his son’s nickname “Guac” for helping push Biden into action.

The President will also introduce Stefan Dettelbacha former Justice Department prosecutor when his nominee for director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)
