Venezuela confirms commitment to integration and solidarity

At the opening of the International Summit Against Fascism, held at Casa Amarilla (Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the head of Venezuelan diplomacy welcomed the presence of dozens of activists and political leaders, intellectuals, academics and social communicators from Venezuela different nations.

Plasencia stressed the will of President Nicolás Maduro, 20 years after the failed coup against Hugo Chávez (1954-2013), which aimed to frustrate the project of human dignity, to gather in Caracas those who think against the imposition of fascist currents on the people Venezuela, he specified.

In this sense, the Foreign Minister explained that the commitment of the Bolivarian Revolution is also linked to the integration and encounter of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, solidarity and cooperation.

The Chairman explained that the World Meeting Against Fascism was a good opportunity to address the validity of the struggles for peoples’ empowerment and sovereignty and for multilateralism against the hegemonic claims of the imperialist powers.

He stressed the importance of promoting, in multilateral forums such as the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Celac or ALBA-TCP, the need to build a just society that would guarantee the satisfaction of the needs of the popular classes and settle accumulated social debts worldwide .

Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia recalled that in April 2002 the Venezuelan people took to the streets to fight against the claims of the fascist right to thwart the political project of the Bolivarian Revolution with a coup against Hugo Chávez.

“Twenty years ago, popular empowerment emerged to reject the coup d’etat imposed from outside by the betrayals of dissociated internal political agents, the same who articulate against Venezuela’s calm and stability, who are calling for military intervention,” he denounced.

Plasencia described as fascist impertinence the position taken by sections of Venezuela’s extreme right to encourage the imposition of unilateral coercive measures against the South American country, with grave repercussions on the economic and social sphere.

The International Summit Against Fascism will bring together nearly 200 guests from five continents in Caracas with an agenda focused on the new faces of the far right, alternative and popular communications, and experiences of popular struggles and resistance for the new times.
