Musical comedy: René Simard will direct The Addams Family

The Addams family will be moving to the Théâtre St-Denis next year. René Simard will direct the Quebec version of the musical, which will premiere in October 2023 The newspaper.

From the comic to the stage

Brought to the big screen in 1991 by filmmaker Barry Sonnenfeld, the Addams Family characters were first born in the pages of the New Yorker in the 1930s. Gomez, Morticia and their gang finally made the leap to the Broadway boards in 2010 with Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth.

Since then, the musical has been performed all over the world, from the United States to Spain, through Brazil, England, Australia and France.

It is also the translation adopted on the stages of France that is used for the Quebec version. However, the dialogues are delivered in normative French, while the choreographies are signed by Team White, the big winners of Revolution’s first season.

The Addams family will be shown at the St-Denis Theater in Montreal beginning October 17, 2023 and then at the Salle Albert-Rousseau in Quebec City during the 2024 holiday season. Tickets for the Montreal performances go on sale Friday.
