The lifeless body of a 50-year-old man was found early Monday morning in an apartment building in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighborhood of southwest Montreal.

Shortly thereafter, the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) stated that the death was suspicious as signs of violence had been found on the body. The case was referred to the Major Crimes Unit.
Police were alerted by a call to the 911 switchboard just after midnight to assist a man at the apartment building near the intersection of Montclair and Fielding Avenues.
Upon arrival, the police found that the 51-year-old was unresponsive. His death was pronounced shortly thereafter; A security perimeter was set up to allow investigators to comb the crime scene.
At the end of the night, the SPVM was still unable to form a hypothesis to explain what had led to the person’s death. It was not known whether he was known to police circles.
No arrests were made.
The sector is mainly residential, but there are also some commercial establishments.
