While some studios make a name for themselves through their own productions, others can make a name for themselves in support. Such is the case of Certain Affinity, which was instrumental in the development of Halo 2, Doom, and Call of Duty. In 2020, we learned that Certain Affinity was working on Halo Infinite in partnership with 343 Industries. Earlier this year, insiders Jeff Grubb and then Jez Corden announced that the studio was working on an Xbox exclusive inspired by Monster Hunter: Project Suerte.
A strengthened partnership
After fifteen years working on the Halo franchise, the teams at Certain Affinity have announced that they are strengthening their relationship with 343 Industries. And not for any project! The studio announces that they have the publisher’s confidence to continue developing Halo Infinite.
We were part of @Gloriole Franchised for more than 15 years, we are honored to say that we are deepening our relationship with 343 and have been entrusted with advancing Halo Infinite in some new and exciting ways. Join us on our journey. https://t.co/fApGobYZS3 pic.twitter.com/XSuS7EtLcq

According to this press release, this would not be a simple support job, but a real evolution of the title. According to renowned insider Jez Corden, this project would be called Tatanka, and the rumors he’s heard speak of a game mode with battle royale elements, such as a shrinking arena. Unique elements would set this new mode apart from other competing titles.
As a reminder, Season 2 of Halo Infinite will be released on May 3rd, 2022 with many changes. Check out the teaser trailer below:
