Stephen Curry foot could return to Golden State Warriors practice

Stephen Curry (foot) could return to Golden State Warriors practice this week

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry could return to full training this week as he recovers from a sprained ligament and bruised bone in his left foot.

Coach Steve Kerr said Tuesday that Curry is “commonplace” but won’t be a fit for the Warriors in the postseason until he trains. The next scrimmage is expected on Thursday. Curry has done individual work on the pitch in the past few days.

“The whole team is going to need scrimmage because we usually play every other day and suddenly there’s six days between games, that’s pretty unique,” Kerr said. “Everyone will need scrimmage, but it would be irresponsible to send Steph into a playoff game without having scrimmage time first.”

A source told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that Curry remains “obvious” for Game 1 of the Warriors’ first-round series against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.

“At the end of the week we’ll determine whether or not he’s ready,” Kerr said when asked if there was a timeline for a decision on Curry’s availability. “It’s hard to predict much.”

Curry has missed Golden State’s last 12 games since suffering an injury in a March 16 loss to the Boston Celtics.
