La 2 continues to be the big culture channel on Spanish TV and will be doing so in a new way starting this week with three premieres of new programs. These are two weekly rooms, one for interviews and one for literature, and a magazine that airs Monday through Thursday, covering international artistic news.

First up is Encounters, which will offer in-depth interviews with Spanish cultural figures starting this Thursday, October 13 at 11:00 p.m. Its protagonists, in a calm conversation, reveal aspects of their childhood, the environment in which they grew up, the birth of their vocation, as well as important and professional memories that allow them to understand their vision of the world. It will be a way of preserving a documentary archive of the thinkers and creators of the current era.

Antonio López (the first interviewee), Rosa Montero, Santiago Muñoz Machado, María Blasco, Antonio Muñoz Molina and Luis Landero are some of the guests in this room, directed by Elena Sánchez and co-moderated by Jesús Marchamalo. The room was recorded between March 1st and July 31st, during the era of José Manuel Pérez Tornero as president of the public body and before Sánchez became its interim president a few weeks ago, at the end of September.

His direct reference, as Marchamalo explained to the press this Tuesday during the presentation of the program, is A fondo, the interview program directed and presented by Joaquín Soler Serrano between 1976 and 1981 on La 2.

On the same Friday October 14th at 7:30 p.m. comes A country to read it, which will discover the Spanish literary ecosystem. Presented by poet Mario G. Obrero, winner of the Félix Grande National Prize for Young Poetry and recent winner of the Loewe Poetry Prize for Young Creation. He will be the guide along with the most famous Spanish authors and new writers. He will speak to Luis García Montero and Rosa Berbel in Granada; Juan Cruz and Andrea Abreu in Tenerife; Enrique Vila-Matas and Najat el Hachmi in Barcelona; Manuel Vicent and Ana Penyas in Valencia; or Isaac Rosa and Elisa Victoria in Seville. And in each delivery, names the size of Manuel Rivas, Rosa Montero or Sergio del Molino will suggest a title to viewers.

And the current cultural affairs magazine format returns to the public broadcaster as Miradas 2 was in the early 2000s, this time with Culturas 2, Monday through Thursday at 8:15 p.m., starting October 17. Presented by Paula Sainz-Pardo and directed by Miguel Ángel Hoyos, it focuses on all types of culture, classic and urban: from dance and architecture to series and podcasts. RTVE experts such as Virginia Díaz, Martín Llade and Daniel Galindo will collaborate in this area for interviews, reports and news.
