Mark Jackson would be the wrong coach for the Lakers

It was approximately 43 seconds after the final buzzer of the Lakers season rang before news broke that Frank Vogel would be fired from his position as head coach. While the news wasn’t all that surprising even given the myriad reports that Vogel had been in the hot seat all year, it was instead the speed of the expected layoff that caught the eye and also led to a now-famous layoff Post-game commentary by Vogel himself.

But in terms of filling the vacancy, names are already popping up when it comes to who the team could target, including coaches like Nick Nurse, Quin Synder and Doc Rivers. Also on Tuesday, The Athletic’s Sam Amick reported that LeBron James was “very excited” at the prospect of Mark Jackson getting the job.

While the Lakers are still very much in the early stages of the hiring process, it’s worth noting the names that are mentioned as well as those that players like James are keen on, which brings us to today’s episode.

In this week’s Talk-O-Tuesday, our hosts Alex Padilla and Alex Regla recap Vogel’s sacking, the latest head coach rumors surrounding the team, and the latest – and polarizing – betting odds on who might currently be on the team Guide for the spot:

The duo also discussed the potential qualities the team might be looking for in their next hire, how much James and Anthony Davis will include and which names would excite them and which would leave them disappointed.
