Cody Rhodes used some of Vince McMahon’s banned words on WWE Raw last night

Cody Rhodes opened last night’s episode of WWE Raw as part of a Miz-TV segment with The Miz.

Since returning, Cody has spoken about his desire to do what his father, Dusty Rhodes, never did and become World Champion in WWE.

However, as he discussed his title hopes, fans took note of a possible slip from Cody during last night’s show.

Cody said he hopes to win the WWE “belt,” a word rumored to have been banned by Vince McMahon.

The Miz cut into it, telling Cody to call it a “title,” noting that belts “are what hold your pants up.”

However, that wasn’t the only banned word Cody said during his promo last night, which The Miz also picked up on.

Rhodes spoke about how he came to WWE to face off against the very best “wrestlers” on the show, which is another word McMahon reportedly banned.

He even spoke about it on Pat McAfee’s podcast last month, explaining that the word superstar carries more weight than “wrestler,” which is why he prefers it.

The Miz played his WWE sidekick role perfectly, correcting Cody by saying “superstar” after saying the famous W-word.

Dave Meltzer spoke about it on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio and seemed to imply that it was part of Cody’s character.

Some fans thought those two lines might have been Cody’s mistakes, but Meltzer said that wasn’t the case and the lines were scripted.

“It’s all scripted, so apparently his gimmick is that he gets to say the words that no one else is allowed to say and gets corrected.”

In a rematch of WrestleMania 38, WWE today announced that Cody Rhodes will face Seth Rollins at next month’s WrestleMania Backlash.
