Tim Heidecker shares bizarre new single “Buddy”

Comedian, actor, author and musician Tim Heidecker has presented a brand new album. High School is the latest studio album from the American polymath, out June 24th via Spacebomb. Ahead of the release, Heidecker shared the album’s lead single, “Buddy,” along with news about a summer 2022 North American tour.

Mixing jubilant acoustic guitar and slinky solos, “Buddy” is reminiscent of the glory days of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers or Fountains of Wayne from the days of the Welcome Interstate Managers. As the LP’s title suggests, Heidecker throws his thoughts back to his childhood and youth with this single – all to the exhilarating mix of folk-rock that could easily have accompanied those years

Heidecker produced High School, starring Mac DeMarco, Drew Erickson and Eric D. Johnson. Described as a “composite of a couple of sad friends,” the titular “Buddy” is someone we all recognize: the moody teenager tormented by uncomprehending and distant parents whose only refuge is the space between his headphones.

Heidecker’s upcoming tour is titled Tim Heidecker Live! With Tim Heidecker and The Very Good Band. Heidecker and the band are preparing for the July outing with shows at New York’s Bowery Ballroom on April 14 and Williamsburg’s Music Hall on April 16.

The tour kicks off in July and kicks off with a week of warm-up shows at the Elysian Theater in Los Angeles. From there, Heidecker and Co make their way to San Francisco. Chicago, Toronto, Austin, Boston and Brooklyn.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday (April 15) and you can check out the full tour schedule below
