Cuba, along with the Venezuelan people, is celebrating the memorable and heroic popular event that brought Commander Chávez back to the presidency, wrote Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on his Twitter account this Wednesday, on the 20th anniversary of the victory against the coup state that it tried to stop the work of the Bolivarian Revolution and its leader.

“Cuba, along with the Venezuelan people, is celebrating this memorable and heroic popular event that restored Commander Chávez to the presidency 20 years ago and defeated the coup that attempted to plunge Venezuela into a shameful past,” Díaz-Canel wrote on Twitter.

The commemoration of the April 2002 events is commemorated by the Venezuelan government, political organizations and social movements related to the Bolivarian Revolution.

Activities carried out include a day of communication and propaganda in the streets, networks and media, and a parade organized by the Bolivarian National Militia on the 12th and 13th.

On April 11, when the plan of the Venezuelan right was unleashed, a national mobilization was unleashed “representing the strength of the people in defense of political power, of the fatherland, in defense of its leader Hugo Chávez,” said the vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Pedro Infante.

Twenty years ago, the leadership of the Fedecamara business association and the private media, along with sections of the opposition and the church hierarchy, conspired to overthrow the president and make Pedro Carmona de facto president, whose government lasted only 47 hours.

The popular uprising in the streets and the rescue of Hugo Chávez on April 13 by soldiers loyal to the constitution dealt the final blow to the coup.
