(ANSA) – MOSCOW, OCTOBER 14 – Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has decided to launch a secret mobilization in Belarus to increase the personnel of combat units. This is what the independent Belarusian website Nasha Niva writes.
The “covert mobilization” – he writes – will take place under the pretext of checking military suitability and calling conscripts to rallies, popularly referred to as “partisan recruitment”. About 2,000 people would be involved in the first phase of the mobilization, says an anonymous military source cited by Nasha Niva.
There was no official announcement, but in the meantime Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper, said that a “regime of anti-terrorist operation” had been established in Belarus and that “information according to which some neighboring states are planning Provocations up to the capture of some parts of Belarusian territory “.
However, the minister was recently denied by the BelTa news agency, which, citing the KGB (the Belarusian services), states that no “anti-terrorist operational regime” has been put in place. “An anti-terrorist operation has not been conducted on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and is not currently underway.
