Elon Musk announces that SpaceX can no longer afford the Starlink internet network in Ukraine

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk assured Friday that his company no longer had the funds to continue funding the Starlink internet network in Ukraine, an appeal for the US government to take over.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, SpaceX has delivered thousands of terminals there, providing internet connectivity through a constellation of satellites that make up the Starlink network.

On Friday he warned that the space company “cannot continue to finance the existing system indefinitely and send thousands of additional terminals (…). That is not reasonable.”

The BFMTV teams could go on the spot to Novovorontsovka in the area of Kherson, and see the advance of the Ukrainian army in the region. Exceptional images.

The US will maintain a tank battalion in Lithuania because of the Russian threat

The United States will maintain a tank battalion in Lithuania until at least early 2026, a senior Lithuanian official said in Washington on Friday, citing the ongoing threat from Russia.

The battalion has been stationed in the town of Pabrade near the border with Belarus since 2019, but the Russian invasion of Ukraine has fueled fears of a Russian attack on NATO’s eastern flank.

“Actions like the ones we’re seeing in Ukraine and attempts to further involve Belarus in the military offensive against Ukraine are unlikely to mollify us,” said Kestutis Budrys, national security adviser to the Lithuanian president.

Vladimir Putin believes he is doing “everything right” in Ukraine

Russia is behaving “correctly” in Ukraine. Vladimir Putin on Friday spoke of complacency after nearly eight months of war and despite the string of setbacks his army has recorded against Ukrainian forces.

“It’s not nice what’s happening now, but (if Russia hadn’t attacked Ukraine on February 24) we would have been in the same situation a little later, the conditions would have just been worse for us. So we’re doing everything right,” the Russian president replied to a journalist who asked him if he had any regrets.

In September, Ryad had played an unexpected mediating role, leading to a prisoner exchange between Moscow and Kyiv.

The United States will provide an additional $725 million in military aid to Ukraine for its defense against the Russian invasion, the Pentagon and the State Department announced on Friday.
