Kristen Stewart has her next film role planned, with THR reporting that the Spencer star has signed on to co-star in Love Lies Bleeding, the latest film from Saint-Maud director Rose Glass.

Tragically, although the film has been described as a romantic drama about competitive bodybuilders, we don’t seem to get to see just how much Stewart can bank on his own; She will instead play a character described as “a bodybuilder’s protective lover.” Still, the film is described as largely fixated on “a romance fueled by ego, desire, and the American dream” and, yes, now that you mention it, we’d like to see Stewart explore these various themes , presumably standing near large quantities of Muscle Milk during this time.

Love Lies Bleeding will be Glass’s second feature film as director; Her predecessor was the aforementioned Maud, who, like Love Lies, was based at A24. In her review of the previous Glass film for us, Katie Rife praised the director’s eye for color and for staging “striking imagery” in her tale of religious angst and “elevated” horror. Love Lies Bleeding sounds like it’s at least a little more grounded, but will likely still benefit from Glass’s eye for big, bold imagery. She also co-wrote the screenplay and collaborated with Weronika Tofilska.

Stewart is, of course, fresh from her first Oscar nomination for the role of Princess Di in Pablo Larraín’s Spencer; Her next big appearance will be in David Cronenberg’s upcoming Crimes Of The Future. She’s been constantly dreaming up interesting new roles over the past few years, whether it’s as the host of the sparse action-horror film Underwater, a much-needed charisma injection for the latest Charlie’s Angels film, or a rom-com assignment for Hulu’s Happiest Season . It is not yet known who will co-star in Love Lies Bleeding.
