The governor of a Russian region bordering Ukraine accused Kiev forces of shelling a Russian village on Thursday, April 14, causing injuries.
“Ukrainian forces fired on the village of Klimovo. Two apartment buildings were damaged by the bombardment and there are injured among the residents”, Bryansk Governor Alexandre Bogomaz said on the Telegram app.
The local authority said the injured were being treated and rescue workers were being dispatched to the scene. The allegations could not be independently verified. According to the Interfax news agency, citing a senior Health Ministry official, seven people injured in Klimovo have been hospitalized, two of whom are “severe”.
The Russian investigative committee also accused Ukraine of this fact, which according to its own statements left seven injured. “Members of the Ukrainian armed forces illegally entered Russian airspace with two heavy-weapon attack helicopters. At low level, they fired at least six shots at apartment buildings in the city of Klimovo, in the Briansk region, said the committee, whose allegations are currently unverifiable.
Klimovo is about ten kilometers from the border with Ukraine and has about 13,000 inhabitants. Russia, which has launched a military offensive in Ukraine since February 24, has repeatedly accused Kiev forces of launching attacks on its territory.
Ironically, the Russian army threatened to attack command centers in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, which Moscow has so far refused to take if Ukrainian troops continue to attack its territory. “We see attempts at sabotage and shelling by Ukrainian forces against positions on the territory of the Russian Federation,” said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.
“If these events continue, the Russian military will attack key centers, including in Kyiv, which the Russian military has so far failed to do,” he added.
Russian troops withdrew from the Kyiv region at the end of March. For a month they tried to surround and bomb the capital. Among other things, Moscow has hypersonic missiles that cannot be destroyed in flight due to their speed, and according to its own statements has already used them in Ukraine.
The spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry also announced on Wednesday that the port area of Mariupol, a strategic city in south-eastern Ukraine, had been seized. On Monday, April 11, the head of the pro-Russian Donetsk separatists fighting alongside the Russian army in Mariupol made the same announcement.
“The remains of the Ukrainian and Nazi units [del batallón] Azov present in the city will be blocked and deprived of the opportunity to get out of the encirclement,” Konashenkov said on Wednesday. He also claimed Moscow had destroyed 36 Ukrainian military targets in attacks over the past 24 hours.
