Lawyers for former Jackass star Bam Margera have dropped the skateboarder’s lawsuit against Paramount Pictures and Jackass creators Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze over his firing from recent film Jackass Forever.
In a filing sent Thursday to Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by TheWrap, Margera’s attorney Dennis S. Ellis filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. It was not announced whether an agreement was reached with the accused. TheWrap has reached out to Ellis’ office for comment.
In the lawsuit, Margera alleged that he was “forced” by Jonze and Knoxville to sign an agreement requiring him to undergo multiple alcohol and drug tests in order to be a part of “Jackass Forever,” and that he was released from the project in August 2020 to allow Paramount and the film’s producers to benefit from the film without compensating him.
He also claimed that his failed drug tests during production were due to his use of Adderall to treat attention deficit disorder and that Paramount fired him without giving him a chance to explain.
Defense attorneys for Paramount and the “Jackass” crew said on file that Margera honored the wellness agreement he signed during the first few months of filming, but later cut ties with his treatment team, dodged multiple tests, and was found with him became illegal drugs again.
In the final version of Jackass Forever, Margera is briefly seen participating in a stunt with several Jackass cast members and archival footage used for a montage shown as the film’s end credits. His name is listed at the end of the 49 cast members listed during the credits.
