A Russian fighter dropped a missile near a British plane in the Black Sea

According to the British Ministry of Defense, on September 29 a Russian plane fired near a British jet over the Black Sea. According to the Russians, it was an accident related to a technical problem. London: No sign of escalation

A Russian warplane has dropped a missile near a British jet patrolling international Black Sea airspace.

The incident dates back to September 29 but was only uncovered today, at the end of a series of preliminary investigations and international contacts, by the London Ministry of Defense, which defined it as an accident, not a signal of escalation, but also an element affecting all of it reminds how dangerous the situation can become if you keep using your fighter planes, as Moscow has been doing for a long time.

We are dealing with a president and an army, the Russians, who – as can also be seen from this recent incident – are not far from miscalculating or breaking the rules, said Ben. Wallace, owner of the British Defence.

The minister told parliament that Britain had suspended patrols after the incident and expressed its concern to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. London has resumed patrols, which are now being escorted by warplanes, following assurances from Moscow, which, after an investigation into the incident, attributed the accident on Oct. 10 to a technical malfunction.

According to Wallace, Shoigu also acknowledged that the crash occurred in international airspace.

The minister said an unarmed RAF RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft was hit by two Russian SU-27s, one of which dropped a missile near the RAF Rivet Joint.

Wallace suddenly canceled an intervention Tuesday night ahead of an assignment to local authorities to fly to Washington and meet US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. The reasons for this visit were not disclosed, and it was suspected that a specific threat or new information was the cause. I don’t think anyone should be particularly alarmed by my visit, Wallace said, adding that we’re trying to understand our planning processes — which we would do given a series of events.

Britain’s Ministry of Defense said it had warned allied countries about the incident.
