Dennis Allen’s halftime interview didn’t go over well with Saints fans | saints

The New Orleans Saints got off to a promising start on Thursday night, extending a 14-6 lead against the Arizona Cardinals in the second quarter, before going sideways in a hurry.

The Saints were up 14-6 with about 2:30 left in the second quarter, but the Cardinals mounted a furious rally to take a 28-14 lead at halftime — aided by two Andy Dalton interceptions late in the second quarter Quarter.

Dalton, who had already thrown an interception into the end zone in the first quarter, had an accurate pass to Marquez Callaway converted into an interception when the ball bounced off the receiver’s hands. Marco Wilson returned the interception 38 yards for a touchdown.

Right on the next drive, Dalton was hit trying to find Chris Olave on a pass and the ball was picked up again. This time, Isaiah Simmons returned the interception 56 yards for a TD.

Dalton finished the first half with nine of 15 tries for 177 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

When Saints coach Dennis Allen was asked what he said to his quarterback at halftime, his answer didn’t impress many fans.

“Nothing, just keep doing what he’s doing,” Allen said on the Amazon show.

Social media immediately lit up as Saints fans showed their surprise at Allen’s comments.
