Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars saga, has revealed he took part in a drone fundraiser for Ukraine.
“Since I started, they’ve received 500 drones,” revealed Mark Hamill on Thursday. The actor, best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, revealed during Bloomberg Radio’s Sound On show that he followed the call of Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“Ukraine needs drones,” he said. “They define their war goals, they protect their country, their people, they guard the border, they have their eyes on the sky.”
With Barbara Streisand
Mark Hamill last month took part in a fundraiser to buy drones launched by the President of Ukraine. Luke Skywalker, 71, was even appointed by Volodymyr Zelensky to be an ambassador for the Army of Drones project, accessible on United24’s online site.
The American singer Barbra Streisand has also joined the initiative as an ambassador.
United24 must enable the regular purchase of drones, their rapid repair and replacement, and the training of army pilots.
“War Against the Evil Empire”
“In this long and uneven battle, Ukraine needs continued support. That’s why I’m honored that President Zelensky asked me to become ambassador for the drone army,” Hamill said in a statement. “I know for sure that Ukrainians need drones to protect their country, their freedom and the values of the entire democratic world. This is the best time for everyone to come together and help Ukraine face this war against the evil Empire. “
Earlier this month, Hamill tweeted an image of a Resistance X-wing starfighter, piloted by his Star Wars character, in the blue and yellow colors of the Ukrainian flag, pitted against a fleet of Empire interstellar destroyers in the colors of blue and Red of Russia with this slogan “Resist”.
