Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and head coach Kliff Kingsbury got into a heated exchange on the sidelines in Thursday’s win over the New Orleans Saints, though both downplayed arguments with reporters during post-game press conferences.

“We’re fine,” Murray said.

Thursday Night Football viewers could be forgiven for thinking otherwise, especially after announcer Al Michaels said Murray “barked” at Kingsbury.

The former Heisman Trophy winner was seen twice roaring in Kingsbury to “calm the f*** down” after the Cardinals coach called a panicked timeout in the second quarter of the 42-34 win.

“The clock ran out and we couldn’t finish the piece we were trying to play,” Murray told reporters. “Well, it was, I guess it’s my fault. I take it.’

The two continued to bicker during the break until Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins stepped in to calm the situation after returning from a six-game ban on performance-enhancing drugs.

“He’s really animated over there on the sidelines sometimes,” Murray said, referring to Kingsbury’s “antics.”

Murray didn’t seem to have any hard feelings afterwards.

“We’re fine,” Murray said. “We’re going to do it right. In the end we scored a goal, that was good. But, yeah, that’s all I wanted to say, just relax.

“Don’t worry me, or I don’t think it will worry him. We’re just trying to win. Something like that at the moment. After that we’re good.’

Kingsbury then poked fun at the situation.

“He said I don’t look good on TV playing like that,” Kingsbury said. “I don’t know, I guess it’s a Gen Z thing. ‘You’re on TV so calm down.’

“I like to show emotions.”

Murray played pretty well Monday, completing 20 of 29 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown while adding 30 yards on seven carries. Most importantly, he connected 10 times for 104 yards with Hopkins as the Cardinals broke an eight-game losing streak at home.

Thursday’s game was tied at 2 p.m. until Saints quarterback Andy Dalton threw two interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns.
