«You who know me know that we will form a negotiating table; a negotiating table can be coordinated by the vice president and union leaders and business people will be present,” Lula said at a meeting with the country’s largest union headquarters in Sao Paulo.
The founder and election candidate of the Workers’ Party (PT) also pointed out that there will be a dialogue with other sectors of society, “we will call the entrepreneurs to speak, the universities will participate in the discussion, all, all sectors of the economy .”
Because, as he specified, “the idea has arisen that workers and unionists are against the growth of companies, that workers are responsible for Brazil’s costs.”
He insisted that the workers should take an active part in the development of the country and not just generate profits for the businessmen.
“They don’t realize that if the worker wants something, it’s important for the company to go big, create jobs, raise wages, because everyone dreams of working,” he said.
He emphasized that the most important thing in Brazil’s reconstruction is dialogue.
“We need a fair debate in society. We don’t want to deny the merchant his right to speak, we don’t want to deny the banker his right to speak, we don’t want to deny the merchant his right to speak, we don’t want to deny the farmer his right to speak,” he stressed.
But, he clarified, “you can talk what you want, but it will be discussed at a negotiating table where workers are represented to represent their interests.”
Present at the event was former São Paulo governor Gerardo Alckmin, who was nominated this week by the Brazilian Socialist Party to serve as vice president in the PT leader’s electoral duo, whom he praised.
«Their struggle, the struggle of the unions, brought Brazil the greatest popular leader in this country: Lula. Long live Lula! Long live the workers,” shouted Alckmin with an emotional verb.
To date, the former president is leading all opinion polls heading towards the vote that will see Bolsonaro seek re-election.
