TROUTMAN, NC — One person was shot and wounded outside the North Carolina home of rapper DaBaby, authorities said Thursday, but it was unclear if he himself was involved or injured.
DaBaby and at least one other person were at home when the shooting occurred Wednesday night, Troutman Police Chief Josh Watson told The Associated Press. But he would not say who was shot or who committed the shooting, citing ongoing investigations. He said the unidentified injured person’s injuries were not life-threatening.
A rep for the rapper did not immediately respond to an email request for comment Thursday.
Troutman is located in Iredell County, 35 miles north of Charlotte.
The shooting is the latest in a series of incidents involving DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk. In 2019, he pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor charge for carrying a concealed weapon after a fatal shot at a Walmart in Huntersville, North Carolina south of Troutman. He was not charged with the shooting.
Last year, the Grammy-nominated rapper was arrested after bringing a loaded gun into an upscale Rodeo Drive store.
