Kyle and Jackie O explain the walk-off after Alan Jones’ interview was censored

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson have opened up about what really happened on Friday as they left their own show in a ‘hissing fit’.

KIIS FM radio presenters stormed out of the studio during an interview with Alan Jones after learning the live broadcast was being censored.

Sandilands returned to the airwaves on Monday and brushed aside the incident, saying it was just the result of “mixed signals” between the hosts and channel management.

“Well we made it back. Who would have thought that?’ he said.

“We left the show on Friday in a hissing fit. What happened was there was some confusion between management and mixed signals, wishy-washy back-end cops**t.

Sandilands then admitted he’d been a little “bitchy” lately after welcoming his first child with fiancée Tegan Kynaston, which might explain his short-tempered temper.

Later in the show, Henderson clarified that the actual moment that was censored on air “wasn’t even that big of a deal.”

Sandilands and Henderson were interviewing conservative pundit and former 2GB presenter Jones when the chat suddenly went off the air.

“Dumping” is radio terminology for when a live broadcast is interrupted because the broadcast delay, typically around 45 seconds, is insufficient to censor inappropriate content.

It was unclear at the time what had caused the incident, but the KIIS FM show abruptly ended the interview and turned on commercials for about nine minutes before going back on the airwaves.

When they returned, a frustrated Sandilands explained that they were in the middle of a “very big situation” and he had been advised by his lawyers to leave.

“If communication breaks down internally, anything can happen,” he said.

“So it’s too dangerous for me. My attorney said, “Drag yourself out of thin air until everyone is singing from the same hymnal.”

“There’s no point in saying anything to me and Jackie and telling the staff…” he continued before being censored by a series of beeps.

After the beep, Henderson chimed in, saying, “How would we ever know? Communication is key in these situations.”

Sandilands then said he turned off the mic and called it a day.

Just before the segment was deleted, Sandilands and Jones discussed how KIIS FM had poached some talent from Jones’ former radio network 2GB.

Sandilands then said that one of the staff members they nabbed, who is now working as a panel operator on the Kyle and Jackie O Show, was caught watching YouTube compilation videos of Sandilands and Jones describing a “breakdown”. had.

Jones then started talking about how he had been “secretly taped,” causing Jackie to audibly gasp.

As he attempted to tell the story, the segment was “dropped” from the air before a nine-minute series of pre-taped commercials began playing. Sandilands and Henderson later returned to the airwaves without Jones.

An ARN spokesman told Chron Australia: “Upset by a segment that was filed this morning, Kyle decided to give himself and the team an early grade. The boys will be back Monday at 6am.’

Jones hosted a popular breakfast show on 2GB for 18 years before departing in 2020.

At the time, the multi-million dollar broadcaster from Sydney told its listeners that it was retiring for health reasons.

His departure came after controversy over statements he made about New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Jones later apologized for his comments after sponsors briefly boycotted the Macquarie Network, then owners of 2GB.

In 2021, Jones lost his place at Sky News Australia when his contract was not renewed.

Back in September, Sandilands let loose in an eight-minute rant on his own radio station after he was snubbed by the company’s publicity team.

The 51-year-old was angered by the lack of press coverage of The Kyle and Jackie O Show’s historic ratings triumph this week, which saw the KIIS 106.5 breakfast program record Sydney’s biggest-ever audience.

The media has glossed over this fact, instead focusing on 2GB presenter Ben Fordham’s market-leading market share. This is because radio ratings are typically reported as a percentage rather than total viewership.

Sandilands said the PR department of KIIS FM’s parent company, ARN, should have issued a press release highlighting the ratings milestone of his show and calling them “losers,” “flops,” and “absolute assholes” because of the apparent oversight became.

He was targeting an outside PR firm hired by ARN to handle media relations, but Chron Australia understands PR for poll results is actually handled in-house by ARN.

Furthermore, The Kyle and Jackie O Show’s ratings milestone was indeed highlighted in a press release issued by ARN following the last GfK ratings poll.

The release included poll highlights for other ARN stations, including WSFM.

“I’m sick of working here,” Sandilands snapped live on air.

“Everyone’s a loser except everyone on this show. Everyone else outside of this show are massive losers. I am not joking.’

He added: “You have no idea. This whole station couldn’t take root in a brothel with a wheelbarrow full of money and a grin. They wouldn’t know, they wouldn’t get laid. You are too stupid. imbeciles.

“I’m sick of this common idiot hiring to fix things and then it takes them a year to figure out that this guy is a moron and should be fired. Get rid of the flops. I should run this whole place.”
