Teacher saves choked student with bottle cap in US

A teacher in the United States rescued a 9yearold student who choked on a bottle cap while drinking water in the classroom. Video from the classroom security camera captured the moment JaNeice Jenkins performs the Heimlich maneuver to save the student.

East Orange Community Charter’s security camera recorded the moment the student tried to open the bottle with his mouth and accidentally swallowed the cap. The student starts walking around the classroom trying to get help. Meanwhile, his classmates laugh blankly, thinking the boy just got wet. In fact, the 9yearold couldn’t explain that he was choking.

After running across the room, Robert reached Jenkins and pointed to his neck to show that he had the cap stuck down his throat. The teacher immediately began the Heimlich maneuver and helped the student spit the object out.

According to local portal NJ Advance Media, Jenkins said he didn’t think much about what to do, he just acted quickly to help the boy. The teacher had recently attended a first aid course in which she learned the Heimlich maneuver, among other things.
