MOSCOW.- The Russian Investigative Committee reported today on the arrest last Monday of Colombian Giraldo Saray here, who was sending out massively false information about Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.
“It was established that in the period from March 9 to March 18, 2022, by prior agreement with people directing their actions from abroad, Giraldo Saray conducted technical training and subsequent covert placement of mobile devices in one of Moscow’s shopping malls,” it said it in a statement.
He explained that these devices generated a massive mailing to subscribers of Russian telecommunications companies with false news about actions of that country’s armed forces in Ukraine, including some about alleged killings of civilians.
According to the report, the person involved was arrested as a result of the investigative and operational procedures carried out and incriminating elements and documents were confiscated during a search of his home.
Inspection of the mall found six hidden smartphones, as well as external power sources, delivering bulk text messages.
The investigative department said that a criminal case was opened against the Colombian under the provisions of the Criminal Code for crimes related to disseminating intentionally false information about the actions of the Russian armed forces.
