The police show Linha Direta, which was a hit on Globo’s Thursday nights between the 1990s and 2007, is back! The broadcaster announced this on Thursday evening (27th) as part of an event for the advertising market. The show, which presents the cases affecting the country, is already scheduled for next year, and the responsibility for running the unattractive attraction lies with journalist Pedro Bial.
Linha Direta was inspired by hit shows in the United States such as Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow and The Unsolved Mysteries. Two police cases were presented in each program, showing journalistic reporting at the time the crimes were committed, the investigative process and its reconstruction based on witness testimonies.
As the publication on the Gshow portal of the show’s return recalls, the reporting team not only traveled case proposals from viewers, but also traveled all over Brazil to produce articles and search for topics. The attraction was shown on Thursday evenings between 1990 and 2007. The “Linha Direta” had the journalists Hélio Costa, Marcelo Rezende and Domingos Meirelles as moderators.
Among other things, the program aimed to determine the whereabouts of refugees convicted by the judiciary. It should be remembered that social networks did not exist then with the power and reach they have today, with the ease of uncovering criminal cases and searching for convicts. It remains to be seen how Globo will format the program in the digital age. Globo has not yet specified in detail what the new face of the program will look like.
